Ahh, the age-old question we get the most from our customers. Whether you’re a nightclub newbie or a seasoned veteran, going out can be daunting if you’re unsure of what to wear. Luckily, we have all the answers for you. When in doubt, you should always dress to impress. You don’t want to be that guy or girl that lets their entire friend group down because your garment didn’t suffice for the club’s standards. Now that we’ve covered the general guidelines for nightclub attire, let’s go into some more specifics. Each city is a bit different and we want you to be well-prepared:
Las Vegas
The dress code at most Vegas clubs is fashionably casual. No shorts, no tank tops, no flip flops, no overly baggy t-shirts, no hats, no basketball or workout sneakers, and no athletic gear (jerseys, sweats, etc.). Everything else is pretty much OK. Guys can wear rubber-soled casual shoes – Vans, Skechers, etc. – as long as they are NOT workout shoes. Collared shirts and button-downs are encouraged but NOT required – a form-fitting stylish T-shirt will work just fine, and even better if you throw a blazer or sport coat on top if it.
That being said, most people do dress up to the nines in Vegas, especially for the hotter high-end nightclubs with elevated price points (Omnia, XS, Hakkasan, Marquee). You will NOT feel out of place if you decide to don slacks, a blazer, and dress shoes, or even a well-tailored expensive suit. Ladies often wear revealing dresses with high heels and even cocktail dresses and evening gowns – you can never be too dressed up in Sin City. And, every so often you’ll see a wedding party out and about- with guys wearing tuxedos and girls wearing bridesmaids dresses – and even these groups don’t look out of place.
When partying late into the night in Vegas, you should always err on the side of caution – it’s better to be dressed up than dressed down for your chances of getting in with no hassle.
Los Angeles
Since LA is a vast city with a myriad of nightlife choices, the dress code varies more than Vegas. For men, your typical night out during the summertime consists of donning either a short sleeve dress t-shirt or form fitting regular t-shirt, jeans, and clean casual shoes. In colder weather, a long sleeve button down and jeans with casual shoes works well. However, at the higher-end clubs, it’s always best to wear a dress shirt, jeans, and dress shoes + a blazer if it’s chilly.
For women, your typical night out during the summertime consists of donning either a dress + heels or a light blouse + dark jeans + heels. Casual shoes also work if you’re not attending one of the higher-end clubs that are more difficult to get entry. In colder weather, a nice jacket to cover up your summertime outfit works well. It doesn’t usually get below 55 degrees in LA all year round, so there’s no need to stack on your layers, especially because most LA clubs do not have a coat check.
Miami
Miami’s dress code is a hybrid of LA and Vegas. The weather is warm, but the temperature is humid. For day parties at Hyde Beach and Nikki Beach, wear pool party attire. For nightclubs, no shorts are allowed, despite how hot and humid it can get. For men, follow the same etiquette for Vegas when you’re in Miami: collared shirts and button-downs + jeans and dress shoes are encouraged, but not required. A form-fitting stylish T-shirt will work just fine with a pair of jeans and casual shoes.
For women, also stick to the Vegas etiquette: cocktail dresses with heels works wonderfully. It’s Miami – you should be there to party!
New York City
The Big Apple – a city much colder than the previous three cities listed. For New York, we recommend both men and women dressing up fashionably and wearing a nice blazer, sport coat, leather jacket, or warm garment to cover up your first layer during the colder seasons. In the summertime, a short sleeve dress t-shirt or form fitting regular t-shirt, jeans, and clean casual shoes / dress shoes works well for men. A dress + heels or a light blouse + dark jeans + heels works well for women during the warmer seasons.
If you have questions about dress code in other cities, please err on the side of safety and dress up more than you would dress down. You never know who you can meet 😉
